HEADMASTER'S TROPHY
Holly Taylor
Holly Taylor was the recipient of the “Headmaster’s Trophy” for her graduating class of 2015-2016. The Headmaster’s trophy is awarded to an exemplary student who exhibits strong academics, athletics, volunteerism and provides a positive environment around the school.
Holly has been on the Honour Roll all 4 yrs. of her highschool and was an Ontario Scholar. Holly won BCCSAA, CWOSSA, OFSAA West (placed 2nd), OFSAA (placed 4th) for shot put. She went on to Nationals to be a two time National Gold Medalist in Shot Put and Weight Throw. She also received a silver medal for shotput.
Holly is also extremely talented in the arts, particularly Vocal Music. She received the highest standing for vocal music 3 out of the 4 years she took the course. Holly was also a member of the Vocal Ensemble, of which she says “The environment was very fulfilling and it made me want to be a better person”. She found that sharing her voice through song was a way to encourage her and others that anything is possible! Holly has also performed at coffee houses, concerts and has auditioned for solos and done extremely well.
Though she may be considered artsy, she also has a science head and was considering a field in the forensic sciences or perhaps law. When Mr. Picone read the speech she never considered she would be the recipient. In fact when she had to walk up to receive it she was ‘very emotional, a bundle of nerves’ and that it was ‘overwhelming where she had happy tears’.
Holly encourages all ACS students to continue to show initiative, work hard, be dedicated and a good person. Holly has returned to ACS to take more AP courses and to continue helping those in the vocal class as well as on the field. What an example the students of ACS have of a well-rounded citizen! We’re proud to have known her from her humble beginnings in the music room, 1154!

Auditions YEAR 2023

Touring the elementary schools is always a highlight for our Vocal Ensemble and Concert Band members, especially if the students are alumni’s. The nostalgia that the students experience reminds them of the freedom of being a kid and they have fun showcasing their talent at the same time! *We hope we will see you again this year as we're scheduled to travel to the Six Nations Reserve and Caledonia.

FESTIVALS
Instrumental students in Concert Band participate in Music Fest. Vocal Ensemble participates in the Ontario Vocal Festival (OVF) every other year. The Festivals offer the students an incredible opportunity to meet top clinicians and showcase their talent. For Drama there is NTS (National Theatre School)'s Drama Festival. Top adjudicators critique high school performances where it's all created by students!
The “Festival of Music” held at Canada’s Wonderland is our annual celebration. It not only allows the Vocal Ensemble and Concert Bands to be adjudicated by top clinicians, but also provides a fun day after 9 months of hard work!

MUSICALS
Assumption performs a musical every other year. It began in 2007 with a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest”. In 2009 we performed “Godspell”. We delayed the performance of "The Addams Family" to 2022 due to COVID. And will be performing "Footloose" in February 2024.
